Children

children_443Children are precious and we want them to know they belong at Holy Trinity Parish. As baptized persons they are fully initiated into Christ’ body, the Church. And we, as the Church, are not whole without them.

We get it. Squirmy children at church is hard. And Episcopal services can sometimes feel long. But we at HTP take our Baptismal Covenants and the Episcopal Church’s Children’s Charter seriously! If you’re visiting, we want you to know you and your children are welcome.

During Church

Nursery: The HTP Nursery is available from 9:00-11:30 each Sunday for newborns through age 3, and is located just off the Parish Office (first door on the left as you walk down the hallway). It’s staffed by volunteers and paid nursery workers who are also part of our teaching team at the Holy Trinity Parish Preschool. These teachers have passed all background checks and Safe Church requirements.

Children in Church: For children ages 4 and up, we encourage them to participate in the HTP service to the best of their abilities. We have worship bags and books available outside the Nave for children to borrow and use during the Eucharistic service. If you need to step out and reset and try again, we understand. Thank you for bringing your kids to church to worship with us!

Acolytes and Children Serving in Church: HTP embraces our youngest of acolytes and having them serve during our Eucharist services. Contact Fr. Rhett if you have a child who might be interested in becoming an acolyte, singing in choir, reading the lessons, or participating in another way. We are open to conversations about how to include them in our services.

Sunday School Programs for Children

Sunday School occurs during HTP’s formation hour, 9:15-10:15 each Sunday. We offer Sunday School formation opportunities for a variety of ages.

The Little Lambs—toddler Godly Play community. Nursery aged children (under 3 as of Sept 1 of this year) are welcome to participate.

Please drop your children off in the nursery by approx. 9:15am, to allow them plenty of time to transition prior to class, after they separate from you. At approx. 9:30am, the Little Lambs teacher will come into the nursery to invite any interested children to hear a story and enjoy a feast together. At approx. 10:00am, the children will return to the nursery.

Please contact Amy Wells for more information, or if you’re interested in volunteering to assist with this group.

Children’s Choir

Our HTP Children's Choirs offer a spiritual musical journey for our youngest members. The Primary Choir, designed for preschool through first-grade students, and the Junior Choir, tailored for second through fifth graders, meet weekly on Sunday mornings from 8:45 am to 9:15 am in the first-floor music room, just before the formation hour.

Each choir explores a diverse and age-appropriate repertoire, with occasions for them to sing separately and together throughout the year. The Junior Choir has the unique opportunity to collaborate with the adult Parish Choir for anthems during various worship services throughout the academic year.

These dedicated young choristers contribute to our worship experience, participating in our 10:30 am service monthly and during significant occasions such as All Saints Sunday, Lessons & Carols, Christmas Eve, and other special events.

For additional information, please contact Lucas Gray at gray@htparish.com. Join us in enriching our worship through children's participation in music!

Parish Events

Children and families are often a focus of parish-wide events and services throughout the year, e.g., St. Nicholas Day service, Christmas Pageant, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Easter Brunch, and Parish Retreat. We also hold some special events just for families, e.g. VBS, family suppers, etc. Watch here for updates.

Holy Trinity Parish is part of 109 worshiping communities across middle and north Georgia, and part of a worldwide expression of Christianity known as the Anglican Communion. One of our hallmarks is that we find our unity in our common prayer and worship, not in our common thought or belief. When we gather to pray, we join in ancient practices designed to shape our lives to be more like Christ’s. We hear God’s word, pray for the world, confess our sins, receive forgiveness, be at peace with one another, and celebrate our unity with God and one another in Holy Communion.

Welcome Is there a place for me here? Worship Families

    Welcome to Holy Trinity Parish!

Welcome to this place of prayer, service, and belonging. Whether you are looking for a church home or just looking for a place today to slip in quietly and worship God, we are glad you are here.

We know that the church is not the building in which we worship – but the people who worship and share God’s love with the world.

Philippians 4:7 “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Discover how we are being the church in new and exciting ways!

    In a word, yes.

We at Holy Trinity Parish give thanks to God for the gift of spiritual maturity in our leadership. Spiritual maturity means we are able to focus on the work God gives us to do in the world. It means we are able to welcome new people, new experiences, and new challenges without fear or anxiety. It means we welcome diversity as a gift from God. You’ll find a richness here, with people trying to love God and one another all across the age and economic spectrums, and all across the political and cultural spectrums, too. You’ll find people who know the ancient rhythms of our worship by heart, people who are coming from other expressions of Christianity, and people who have little or no experience with Church.

    Sunday Worship

    8 a.m. Rite I in Chapel

10:30 a.m. Rite II with music in Nave and streaming on our YouTube Channel and facebook live.

When we gather for worship, we strive to glorify God with beautiful music, intentional silence, and words of both comfort and challenge. We also strive in our worship to welcome and include people of all ages and capabilities: people who wiggle and make noise, people whose cell phones go off, people who nod off during the sermon, people who can’t quite sing on key, and people who are so busy through the week that they struggle to “be still and know that you are God.”

If you are bringing young children to our worship, THANK YOU! and we challenge you to try to engage them in the holy drama of worship: teach them our prayers and how to hold a hymnal, show them when to stand or kneel, and use our worship bags to give busy hands something to do. Or if it is better for you or your children that they be in our nursery, it is professionally staffed from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. worship is over, and it is located on the main floor next to the office reception area.

The faithful giving of all our members enables our ministries and our life together. Each week, we are nurtured in word and sacrament. We are called by God to care for those who are ill or hurting, and welcome all those searching for a community of faith.

We try to be a generous parish. Although giving levels vary in the congregation, all of us are asked to give in a way that reflects our commitment to living a generous life. I invite you to prayerfully consider how you might live life more generously.
